Junior Golf Passport, or JGP, is HSBC Golf Roots' national structured learning programme for children aged 6-12 endorsed by the Professional Golf Association . The multi-layered programme progresses a complete novice golfer into a junior golfer ready for membership at a golf club.
Golf offers a unique opportunity to enhance your child's physical, psychological and social development.
JGP is a comprehensive introduction to golf for your child that incorporates all the key areas of development:
The programme has three key levels: START, LEARN and PLAY. The START level is all about fun and is an elementary introduction to golf. The LEARN level is a move towards technical instruction through games-based learning, always with the emphasis on fun. The PLAY level teaches the child to apply their learning to the golf course, preparing them for potential club membership and competition.
Access to the golf course and playing golf on a course are important features of the Junior Golf Passport from the START in order to develop a real connection to golf.
Children are provided with their own passport booklet to track their progress and gain certificates and wristbands at each developmental stage, providing them with the incentive to keep improving. In addition, progress and performance can be tracked via the JGP online website, which also includes: player profiles, messaging, player locker room, online shop, games and quizzes.
Parents and carers are welcome to get involved, both by using the passport system to check their child's progress online and by joining in. If you don't play golf already, this is a great opportunity to start!
The programme is due to get up and running in the new season with our fully DBS-checked PGA Professional coaches.
